Maintain Your Pre-Certified Cars or Else!

October 31, 2008 | Posted by jcme

cpo autosPre-certified cars need just as much attention and care as any other car. But with today’s economy and high gas prices (although they are starting to decline), many owners of pre-certified cars are putting off regular maintenance procedures to save money. Unfortunately, this can cause problems that will cost more in the long run.

This article is about that very thing. Donna Wright, a car owner in Hinckley, New York, is one of those people that is putting off regularly scheduled maintenance. She said she has had to wait on an oil change and a tire rotation so she can afford to pay her heating bill and her medicine for the month.

One car analyst said that most people just look at their car as a means of getting from one place to another. As a result, they generally don’t look at the cost of maintaining used, new or even pre-certified cars until they actually break down. “Sometimes, it’s not what happens now, but it’s what happens in the very near future, and a lot of times people don’t look at what can happen without the routine maintenance,” he explained.

If you own a Toyota certified vehicle, be sure to get the regular maintenance done when it is recommended. That’s the best way to keep your car in tip-top shape for many years to come.

Pennsylvania Dealers Offer Halloween Safety Tips

October 31, 2008 | Posted by jcme

paYour Pennsylvania dealers understand that Halloween is all about fun, candy and ghouls. But all of that fun can go down the drain if somebody gets hurt tonight. That’s why your Pennsylvania dealers are offering these tips taken from AAA to help you and your little ghosts and goblins enjoy the night in a fun and safe way.

Use Costumes that are Highly Visible
If you have already chosen the costume for your little trick-or-treater, it might be too late to have them dress in bright, visible colors. Either way, you can still add some reflective tape to their costumes and their treat bags or buckets so drivers can see them at night.

Review Traffic Safety with Your Children
The excitement of free candy could make your children forget about traffic safety. Before letting them go out (and even if you’re with them), make sure they know the basics: look both ways before crossing the street, only cross at corners, avoid walking between two cars, etc.

Go to Places You Know
With sexual predators and other demented people in the world today, having a fun and safe Halloween means going to safe places. This means going to your neighbors that you already know and any schools or businesses that are handing out candy. Who knows? Your local Toyota dealer near Conshohocken may even be handing out candy. While you’re there, you might even get a “treat of a deal” on a new or used car this season.

Follow these and other common sense tips and your family should be able to have a fun and safe Halloween!

PA Car Dealers Discuss Game 5

October 29, 2008 | Posted by jcme

toyota dealerIf you’re like us at your PA car dealers, you were both thrilled and disappointed in Game 5 of the World Series. Your PA car dealers were thrilled at the thought of the Philadelphia Phillies bringing home the World Championship. However, we were disappointed when the game was suspended due to inclement weather.

Before the game, though, Game 5 between the Phillies and the Devil Rays was one of the hottest tickets in town. One man – Greg Daylor – drove all the way from Hershey, Pennsylvania to Philadelphia in hopes of scoring some tickets at the venue. “We were offered two tickets, 16 rows behind home plate,” he said. Any idea how much the price was? They were $2,000 EACH! That’s not even for front row seats! You could’ve visited the Toyota dealer near Langhorne and put a nice down payment on a new or used car for that price.

Others were more willing to pay the high price for this once in a lifetime opportunity. “I’ve got the title to my 2006 Camry for a seat right now,” said one 20-something who drove all the way from Sewell, New Jersey.

Even last week, “standing room only” tickets were $500 each online.

There are dozens of stories like this. Despite the bad economy, Philadelphia fans are hardcore and willing to go the extra mile to see their favorite team bring home the World Championship. Unfortunately, the rain made that impossible on Monday night.

Go Phillies!

Protecting Your Certified Pre-Owned Cars from Theft

October 29, 2008 | Posted by jcme

toyota dealerSo you just got home from your local Toyota certified dealer with one of the certified pre-owned cars from the lot. The only question you have now is: How do I prevent it from getting stolen?

There really isn’t one foolproof way to protect your car these days. It seems that thieves are one step ahead of security devices. But there are some things that owners of certified pre-owned cars can do to reduce their risk of being a victim.

Install a security device on your car. This is probably one of the best ways to reduce your risk of being a theft victim. Whether it’s a car alarm, an anti-theft stereo system or something else, it’s worth the money.

Put your valuables in the trunk. Thieves won’t typically break into a car if they don’t see any valuables. By putting them in the trunk, you’re increasing your chances of a would-be thief taking a peek inside and moving along.

Always lock your car and take your keys with you. This might seem like common sense, but you’d be surprised how many people have their car stolen each year because they don’t follow this rule.

Park in the garage. If you have a garage, park your certified pre-owned cars in your garage. That just provides an extra barrier between your car and the thieves.

The 2008 Tundra: Available at Your Local Toyota Dealer

October 27, 2008 | Posted by jcme

toyota dealerIf you haven’t visited your local Langhorne Toyota dealer to take the 2008 Tundra pickup truck for a test drive, you’re missing an experience in “machismo.” The 2008 Tundra isn’t anything to sneeze at. In fact, it’s giving the “big boys” a run for their money in the full-size pickup truck market. Here are a few things you can expect from this truck that’s becoming more and more popular each day.

• The 2008 Tundra has a 5.7-liter V8 engine that packs a punch – more than 380 horsepower and more than 400 lb-ft of torque. In addition to that, it has a six-speed automatic transmission and an impressive rear axle ratio.
• According to the reviewers in this article, the 2008 Tundra is so “quick off the line” that you can “blow [the] doors off” of any muscle cars that your friends may have.
• The traction control warns you – the driver – of excessive oversteering and adjustments to help you modify your habits and stay safer.
• The Tundra has a huge bed for hauling and strategically-placed hooks that makes it easier to tie down cargo. It also has a 10,800 pound tow rating.

There is so much more than this to the 2008 Tundra. We’ll be writing more about it in the days and weeks to come. Until then, visit your local Toyota dealer and see what you’ve been missing!

Certified Used Cars Offer Silver Lining in Credit Crunch

October 27, 2008 | Posted by jcme

certified autosA recent article on the Market Watch website discusses how certified used cars are the “bright side” of the current financial crisis. More car buyers are looking for certified used cars instead of new cars because they are less expensive and easier to finance, according to Cars.com.

Mitch Golub, the president of Cars.com, had this to say about the website’s impact on car buyers: “Not only do manufacturer-sponsored certified programs on Cars.com drive certified buyers to local dealerships, but they also generate more overall traffic – new, used and certified.” Many car buyers use this website to search for certified used cars that meet their needs and then they go to their local dealer to find those cars or something comparable.

But manufacturers of these certified used car programs are also pushing their products more aggressively. There is simply too much competition to sit back and not advertise the praises of CPO auto programs and their benefits to consumers.

Since everybody else is realizing how great certified used cars are, why not join the club and visit your local certified Toyota dealer today? You are sure to find something within your price range that meets your needs and expectations.

Used and Pre-Certified Cars are All the Rage

October 24, 2008 | Posted by jcme

certified carsIf you’re like me, you remember the days when buying a brand new car was a great investment. People looked at new cars as a great achievement. New cars were like a status symbol for many people, showing that they work hard.

Those days are changing, though. Today, used and pre-certified cars are becoming the vehicle of choice for even the most discerning car buyer. Pre-certified cars are much less expensive than new cars, but they carry similar warranties and they have a similar quality as new cars. This story from a TV station in Boston shows that to be true: “The sale of new cars is down, but the sale of used cars may be a bright spot.”

The reporter for the story asked customers about their car buying decisions lately. “My car has about 110,000 miles,” said one motorist. “I am not going to buy a new car yet,” he explained. Another motorist praises used cars over new cars. “Just go used,” he told the reporter. “I think it is not necessary to buy a new car anymore. I think cars last longer, and you are better off getting a used one.”

These are just two voices in the myriad of people choosing either pre-certified cars or holding off on buying altogether. How do you feel about the new vs. pre-certified cars market? If you’d rather get a quality used car, visit your local certified Toyota dealer today and see what’s available!

PA Car Dealers Warn Drivers about Repossession Rates

October 22, 2008 | Posted by jcme

toyota dealerYour PA car dealers in Conshohocken and other nearby cities want to warn drivers that the repo man is out and he’s in full force. With the recent economic crisis and other factors, many car owners are foregoing their car payments in order to pay other bills.

This particular story takes place in nearby New Hampshire. People can’t make their auto loan payments lately and they are getting their vehicles repossessed. In the last two years, the repo rate has slowly increased. Fortunately, many banks and financing companies are also being more lenient with their customers to afford them extended opportunities to make payments.

That makes financial sense, though. Banks need these payments whether they are late or on-time. If they repossess the cars, they have a used car that has depreciated and no money coming in.

In terms of numbers, repossessions nationwide increased about 10 percent between 2006 and 2007. That means about 1.5 million cars were taken out of driveways in 2007, according to Thomas Webb, a chief economist. Webb also predicted that number would go up by another 10 percent once all of the 2008 figures are in.

The moral of the story is this: Go ahead and finance that new or used car with your local Toyota dealer. Just be sure you have plenty of money to make the payments on it before signing on that dotted line.
