Pre-Certified Cars Make Ideal “Re-Gifts”

Did you ever think that your pre-certified cars could be excellent for re-gifting this holiday season? Actually, this type of re-gifting has been going on for years at dealerships across the country.

Think about it: A consumer buys a new car. After a year or two, they decide to take that car back to the dealer for another new car. The car that they turned in is given a thorough inspection and then sold to another consumer for a discounted price typical of pre-certified cars. This consumer then gets a like-new car at a great price. It’s not exactly what a re-gift is, but it’s pretty darn close.

Are there any gifts you’d like to re-gift this season? If so, remember these simple tips for etiquette and for avoiding embarrassment.

1. Make sure the gift is unopened. Regardless of how expensive it is, re-gifting an open item is a no-no.
2. Know who gave you the gift. Imagine how embarrassing it would be if you gave your uncle the same girly calendar that he bought for you last year.
3. Have good intentions. Don’t just re-gift to get rid of something. Give the re-gifted item to the recipient because you think they will enjoy it.

With the tightening economy, you’re likely to see more re-gifts this season than ever before. Of course, your Toyota certified dealer has the most amazing re-gifted items ever! Visit one this season and get yourself something that you’ll never want to re-gift.

Odometer Fraud Not a Problem with Certified Used Cars

There are many advantages to investing in certified used cars. One major advantage is that you don’t have to worry about odometer fraud. That’s good news because odometer fraud may be more common than you think. Here are some facts about this type of scam.

• Each year, more than 450,000 cases of odometer fraud are reported each year.
• The average cost that gets passed on to the consumers for each case of odometer fraud is more than $2,330.
• Within the first 11 years of a vehicle’s life, it has a 3.4 percent chance of being tampered with.
• In Florida, it is a third-degree felony to sell or try to sell a vehicle that does not have an accurate odometer reading.
• If you suspect you have been the victim of odometer fraud, the first step to take is to notify your state’s Department of Highway Safety or the Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Any dealership convicted of odometer fraud will likely lose their license.

When you decide to invest in certified used cars at your Toyota certified dealer, you don’t have to worry about odometer fraud. Our vehicles are checked and rechecked and you can even request a CarFax Report to ensure the reliability and accuracy of your certified used cars.

Certified Pre-Owned Cars Flying Off the Lots

With such an uncertain economy and automakers having so many problems, more drivers are turning to certified pre-owned cars when it comes time to get another vehicle. This particular story comes out of Tulsa, but it’s indicative of what’s happening at new and used car dealerships across the country.

“With the new car industry not getting this bailout, it’s really putting a strain on the economy and you can always go and buy a used car,” said Kyle Turner, a consumer looking for a used SUV on one of the dealer lots.

Jack Flinn, the assistant manager at CarMart, a local dealer of new and used cars, had this to say about the upsurge in used car sales: “We’re having a really good year and a real good quarter right now.” But, he says, most of the business is coming from consumers looking for used cars.

Now is the perfect time to visit your Toyota certified dealer and search for a great rebate or bargain. Dealers of all brands are saying now is the best time to buy because of the uncertainty in the auto market. Besides, with the holidays fast approaching, you can make somebody’s Christmas the best it’s ever been!

Save Gas with Your Pre-Certified Cars this Season

Are you driving your pre-certified cars to your relatives’ homes this holiday season? If so, here are some ways to adjust your driving habits to save gas. Just because it’s Christmas doesn’t mean you should be giving more money to the oil companies through careless driving! I mean, if you feel the need to give money away, I’ll give you my address where you can send the check! Anyways, here are those driving tips for your pre-certified cars.

1. Get a tune-up. Vehicle maintenance is the best way to make your pre-certified cars more efficient. If you haven’t had a tune-up in awhile, check your owner’s manual and see if you’re due for one.
2. Check your tire pressure. Before you go to grandma’s house, make sure your tires have the proper amount of pressure. If they don’t have enough, you could be burning gas money the entire way.
3. Tighten your gas cap. You may not know it, but gas can evaporate if your gas cap isn’t tight. Give it an extra quarter-turn and you’ll get the most from each gallon.
4. Get rid of the extra weight. You may not be able to throw your mother-in-law out of the car, but you can leave things at home that you don’t need. More weight equals less fuel economy. Just be sure to leave the spare tire in the car!

Your Toyota certified dealer wants you to enjoy this festive holiday season. We just know it’s more enjoyable when you can save money.

Staying Safe This Winter in Your Certified Pre-Owned Cars

It seems like everybody forgets how to drive their certified pre-owned cars once the snow and ice start sticking to the roads. I’ve seen people lose control of their cars on the highway simply because they wouldn’t slow down and adapt to the road conditions. But we all want to stay safe especially with the holidays fast-approaching. Here are some tips to keep you, your family and your certified pre-owned cars in one piece on the slippery roadways this winter.

1. Check the weather report. Before you even get into your car, you can start making good decisions. Know what the weather is like before you leave the house so you can get in the proper mindset and adapt to the current conditions.
2. Maintain your vehicle. The proper tire pressure is essential for traction on slippery roads. Also, make sure your wipers are in good condition and you have wiper fluid available at all times.
3. Use common sense. This is the most difficult part for many drivers. However, all this means is to brake gently, slow down and don’t do anything crazy. It sounds easy, but you’d be surprised how many accidents occur because drivers just do not use common sense behind the wheel.

Visit your local Toyota certified dealer for more tips on how to stay safe behind the wheel this winter. They may have a car that will help you enjoy the season even more!

Factor In Other Costs of Certified Cars

Whether you are buying new cars or certified cars, there are more costs associated with the purchase besides just the price. Most times, these costs are worth getting the car, but it’s important to consider them before deciding to make the purchase.

Insurance costs – One of the largest chunks of money besides the cost of new or certified cars is the price of insurance. If you’re going to make payments on the car, you’ll need full coverage insurance which is usually more costly than simple liability insurance.

Fuel costs – Depending on the type of new or certified cars you’re looking for, fuel costs could be a deciding factor. Larger vehicles typically cost more in fuel than smaller vehicles. Keep that in mind and think of the long run when making your decision.

Financing fees – Be sure to read the contract before agreeing to any extra fees that don’t make sense to you. Many times, your dealer will waive some fees if you question them or change your mind because of the fees.

Ladies Only: Car Care Tips for Pre-Certified Cars

Many women own pre-certified cars these days. For most, it’s the second largest investment they’ll ever make besides their home. Unfortunately, many women (and men as well) are spending more money than necessary by taking their pre-certified cars to repair shops for things they could probably do themselves. Here are some tips for female owners of pre-certified cars. And men, you can take heed of these tips as well!

Keep an eye on your tire pressure. This is one of the most important things you can do to keep your pre-certified cars running efficiently. Check the manufacturer’s recommended PSI for your particular tires. This is usually listed on the sidewall of the tire. Then get a tire gauge and push it on to the stem of the tire for a quick second. If the pressure is too low, add some air to keep your tires in great condition.

Check the oil. If you let your oil go too long without checking it, you could blow your engine. It only takes a second to check the oil, too. Make sure the car is turned off, open the hood and look for a colored ring around the engine. Once you’ve spotted the oil dipstick, simply pull it out, wipe it off, insert it back into the tube and pull it out one more time to get an accurate reading. If the oil is within the operating range, it’s good. If it’s low, simply add as much as needed into the oil reservoir.

You can find everything you need to know in your car’s owner manual. Of course, you can always visit the service station at your local Toyota certified dealer, too. We’re always glad to help!
