Protecting Your Certified Pre-Owned Cars from Theft

toyota dealerSo you just got home from your local Toyota certified dealer with one of the certified pre-owned cars from the lot. The only question you have now is: How do I prevent it from getting stolen?

There really isn’t one foolproof way to protect your car these days. It seems that thieves are one step ahead of security devices. But there are some things that owners of certified pre-owned cars can do to reduce their risk of being a victim.

Install a security device on your car. This is probably one of the best ways to reduce your risk of being a theft victim. Whether it’s a car alarm, an anti-theft stereo system or something else, it’s worth the money.

Put your valuables in the trunk. Thieves won’t typically break into a car if they don’t see any valuables. By putting them in the trunk, you’re increasing your chances of a would-be thief taking a peek inside and moving along.

Always lock your car and take your keys with you. This might seem like common sense, but you’d be surprised how many people have their car stolen each year because they don’t follow this rule.

Park in the garage. If you have a garage, park your certified pre-owned cars in your garage. That just provides an extra barrier between your car and the thieves.

Certified Used Cars Offer Silver Lining in Credit Crunch

certified autosA recent article on the Market Watch website discusses how certified used cars are the “bright side” of the current financial crisis. More car buyers are looking for certified used cars instead of new cars because they are less expensive and easier to finance, according to Cars.com.

Mitch Golub, the president of Cars.com, had this to say about the website’s impact on car buyers: “Not only do manufacturer-sponsored certified programs on Cars.com drive certified buyers to local dealerships, but they also generate more overall traffic – new, used and certified.” Many car buyers use this website to search for certified used cars that meet their needs and then they go to their local dealer to find those cars or something comparable.

But manufacturers of these certified used car programs are also pushing their products more aggressively. There is simply too much competition to sit back and not advertise the praises of CPO auto programs and their benefits to consumers.

Since everybody else is realizing how great certified used cars are, why not join the club and visit your local certified Toyota dealer today? You are sure to find something within your price range that meets your needs and expectations.

Used and Pre-Certified Cars are All the Rage

certified carsIf you’re like me, you remember the days when buying a brand new car was a great investment. People looked at new cars as a great achievement. New cars were like a status symbol for many people, showing that they work hard.

Those days are changing, though. Today, used and pre-certified cars are becoming the vehicle of choice for even the most discerning car buyer. Pre-certified cars are much less expensive than new cars, but they carry similar warranties and they have a similar quality as new cars. This story from a TV station in Boston shows that to be true: “The sale of new cars is down, but the sale of used cars may be a bright spot.”

The reporter for the story asked customers about their car buying decisions lately. “My car has about 110,000 miles,” said one motorist. “I am not going to buy a new car yet,” he explained. Another motorist praises used cars over new cars. “Just go used,” he told the reporter. “I think it is not necessary to buy a new car anymore. I think cars last longer, and you are better off getting a used one.”

These are just two voices in the myriad of people choosing either pre-certified cars or holding off on buying altogether. How do you feel about the new vs. pre-certified cars market? If you’d rather get a quality used car, visit your local certified Toyota dealer today and see what’s available!

Is Synthetic Oil Best for Certified Pre-Owned Cars?

certified carsYour Toyota certified pre-owned cars might be the best financial decision you’ll ever make. Unfortunately, many people own certified pre-owned cars and they don’t take care of them properly. “Most people are very busy and they just want to get into their cars and go,” said Kevin Chinn, an engine oil adviser for ExxonMobil Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties. “They often do not have the time to spend hours about their car’s maintenance needs.”

But it’s not always about time. Many car owners are confused about car care products and the right ones for their car. Motor oil is one of those products. Most people think the least expensive oil is fine, but that’s not always true. Some cars run better when given the premium synthetic motor oils because they are designed to increase engine performance in the long run.

Synthetic motor oils are better under extreme conditions because they have more stable molecules than non-synthetic oils. As such, they don’t break down as quickly or easily and they don’t create harmful deposits.

Most car experts and mechanics agree that synthetic motor oils are better for your engine. Unfortunately, most car owners still choose the cheapest brands and types each time they add oil to their car. And then they wonder why their engines aren’t operating as well as they could be.

Toyota Unveils Scooter

Toyota WingletBefore deciding on a certified used car from Toyota, perhaps you might want to look into Toyota’s brand new scooter. Called the Winglet, this bad boy cruises around much like Segway with a few slight differences in design and operation.

For one, the Winglet is slower than a Segway. Toyota’s scooter goes to a top speed of 3.7 miles per hour, while the Segway can really fly at speeds up to 12.5 miles per hour. The Winglet is designed to match the speed of pedestrians, of course, which might make it safer for crazed scooter lovers like myself to operate in crowded areas.

And it is those crowded areas that the Winglet is designed for. Toyota is marketing the thing as a sort of shopping scooter assistant device. It responds intuitively to the movement of the driver, so if the driver leans forward, the Winglet goes forward. Quite exciting stuff, I say.

The only problem is that I doubt I’ll be able to get my hands on one of these scooters for quite a while. I may have to settle for a certified used car instead, as Toyota executives have said that there are no plans as of yet to bring the Winglet to the consumers. Instead, I guess it’s just for showing off. It sure is a step in the direction I’d take from a certified used vehicle.

Ah well, off to the Toyota certified dealership I go.
